Hayat- An artistic practice from an Islamic lens’ An animation screening and an artist talk
(Turkish film with English subtitles)

A screening of Turkish artist Rümeysa’s animation and an artist talk will be held at the gallery “Blue Rainbow” in Ichijoji, Kyoto.

Rümeysa is an artist-driven to explore the themes of love, belonging and identity through the lens of Islamic spirituality. She uses animation and illustration as her medium.

Rümeysa graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam with an animation major. She won first prize in the bachelor research award with her thesis ‘Stories on Hold.’ After several years working in the creative industry, she started her master’s degree at the Graduate School of Manga at Kyoto Seika University.
